is your attic well-ventilated?

The ventilation in your attic has a direct impact on how cool and warm you can keep your home. If you don't have a well-ventilated attic, the attic temperatures will cause the temperatures inside your home to increase during the summer and cause moisture problems in the winter. How much ventilation does an attic really need? Your local HVAC technician can help you inspect and determine if your attic is adequately ventilated. My blog will show you the basics about attic ventilation to give you a good idea of what needs to happen to keep your home comfortable and protected from moisture.

Don't Get Hot Under The Collar: 4 Reasons To Get Your Air Conditioner Repaired

If your air conditioner isn't keeping you cool this summer, now's the time to call a repair service. If you've decided to wait a little longer, rethink that decision. You might not realize it, but waiting too long can put you at risk for a variety of other problems. One problem is that you'll pay more for your cooling costs. Another problem is that you can end up with a canceled warranty. But, there are other issues to worry about. Read the list below. Here are some problems you can face when you wait too long to repair your air conditioner.

Inefficient Home Cooling

You need your air conditioner to keep your home cool during the summer. Proper cooling protects you and your family from heat-related health problems. If you have pets, they can also suffer from health problems when the air conditioner doesn't work. Unfortunately, insufficient cooling can also harm your home. Things like broken condenser motors and damaged coils can interfere with cooling. Fast repairs of those problems will restore cooling capacity.

Condensation Issues

If your home is filled with more moisture than usual, it's time to call an air conditioner repair service. When it's working properly, your air conditioner should remove excess moisture from the air. When your air conditioner isn't working right, you get more condensation in your home. Some problems that cause condensation issues include broken float switches and drip pans. Look at your walls and windows. If you see condensation, call for AC repairs.

Air Conditioner Fires

If your air conditioner needs repairs, don't wait too long. You might not know it, but delaying repairs can increase the risk of fires. That's especially true if the problems involve faulty wiring or obstructed airflow. Some signs to look for include short-circuiting and electrical odors. If you experience either of those problems, don't wait to call for repairs.

Replacement Costs

If you think that delaying AC repairs will save you some money, you could be mistaken. Delaying repairs increases the chances that you'll need to replace your air conditioner. That's especially true if the entire cooling system malfunctions. Unfortunately, that can happen if you wait too long for repairs. Avoid early replacement costs. Hire a repair service as soon as your air conditioner goes on the fritz.

Don't lose your cool. If your air conditioner isn't working right, call an air conditioner repair service near you.
