About Me

is your attic well-ventilated?

The ventilation in your attic has a direct impact on how cool and warm you can keep your home. If you don't have a well-ventilated attic, the attic temperatures will cause the temperatures inside your home to increase during the summer and cause moisture problems in the winter. How much ventilation does an attic really need? Your local HVAC technician can help you inspect and determine if your attic is adequately ventilated. My blog will show you the basics about attic ventilation to give you a good idea of what needs to happen to keep your home comfortable and protected from moisture.

6 Times To Call For AC Repair

Your air conditioning company is a number that you want to keep on your speed dial because you want to know you have it readily available any time you need help from them. There are a lot of different reasons why you might find yourself needing that number, and here are 6 of them.

1: Your air conditioner is making noises

New noises always mean something is going on that needs tending to. Whether it is a tattered belt, a leak in a duct, or something stuck in the fan flapping around, the problem is there and you need it fixed.

2: Your air conditioner is leaking water

If the condensation drain gets clogged, then the pan can flood over and this can lead to water causing water damage in the house, which can also bring health risks like mold. So, if you find a leak or see signs of water or water damage, then you'll want to call the company out.

3: Your housing is on a damaged or sinking pad

A concrete pad offers stability and level ground for your outside condenser unit, and if you see problems with the pad, then have someone come out so you can make sure it doesn't lead to problems for the system.

4: Your home smells like rotten trash from the ducts

If your home smells like something rotten and you think the smell is coming from the ducts, then have someone come out to remove whatever pest has died in them and clean them out to get rid of the smell.

5: You are smelling something coming from the system

Pay attention to any smells in the house and take them seriously. If the problem isn't due to anything else and you have determined it is the AC, then have someone come out right away. There might be a belt rubbing, there may be something getting hot in the motor, or there may be another component messing up. Take smells as possible fire risks and keep the unit off until you are told it is safe to use it.

6: The air conditioner freezes

If the air conditioner freezes, then it will shut off, and that's how you will be alerted to a problem. If you notice the air conditioner freezing up on you more than once, then you'll need to get to the bottom of things. Call to have the problem taken care of to put an end to the freezing system and to stop anything else from happening down the line.
